While all of these creatures may be cold blooded, they warm the hearts of my family members. We live in a marshy area and we wait excitedly to hear the spring peepers. They arrive somewhat like the swallows at Capistrano every year in the Spring. Since they are the size of your thumb, how big can their mouths be? Yet their choral efforts create quite a din.

Bob is an inveterate fisherman. Mostly “Catch and Release”. And Matt is kind of fishy since he swims like one. I like to watch the carp jump high out of the river, even though people around here hate them and call them “junk fish”. They are a protected species in my little part of the Oconomowoc River.

My son Peter is the one who loves reptiles. He had an iguana named Spike for years and he was quite a lovely house guest. He was so appreciative when you gave him a shower on a hot day.
